These data quantify the usefulness of 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure measurements for a group of subjects. However, mean 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure varies significantly for individuals. Intrapatient variability may limit the usefulness of a single 24-hour ambulatory recording for an individual patient and suggests the need for more than one measurement to establish a level of blood pressure.
