Unresectable hilar cholangiocarcinoma: percutaneous versus operative palliation.

Abstract

Operative placement of large-bore transhepatic stents may reduce cholangitis, delay hepatic failure, and prolong survival. We conclude that patients with unresectable hilar cholangiocarcinoma who are fit for surgery may benefit from operative palliation.
