Abstract

A multicentre study involving 45 patients was performed to compare the effects of perhexillne maleate (Pexid), beta-blocker (propranolol or practolol) and placebo in the treatment of angina pectoris. Perhexiline maleate was found to be more effective than beta-blocker or placebo (P < 0·001), but it was associated with more side effects.
