Abstract

Some time ago Kerr (1936) showed that the glycogen in the brain is very labile and that its determi- nation during in vivo experiments required special quick-freezing techniques. This lability has since been confirmed by others (Chesler & Himwich, 1943; Albaum, Tepperman & Bodansky, 1946; Klein & Olsen, 1947), and recently Chance & Yaxley (1950) showed that the brain glycogen of mice dropped markedly within 1 min. after death and had effectively disappeared in 4-5 mi.
