Collision tumor of the stomach. Report of two cases.

Abstract

Two patients with collision tumor of the stomach are presented. Of particular interest was the fact that preoperative gastric cytology demonstrated both tumors in the patient on whom that procedure was performed. The differential criteria between this entity and multiple simulataneous gastric neoplasms and carcinosarcoma is emphasized. The tumors in both patients were in close juxtaposition of each other with very little intermingling. Previous reports of gastric collision tumor are listed. Suggestions in regard to diagnosis and therapy are given.
