Abstract

Computerized transverse axial tomography is a new and fundamentally different diagnostic X-ray method. A conventional system consists of an X-ray source, a patient, and a sensitive film or fluorescent screen. In the new system the film or fluorescent screen is replaced by a system of crystal detectors and a computer.
