Though part of a Soil Biology series, this fact is not indicated by the title of the volume. No less than 51 contributors, European and Asian, have contributed to this book. In the foreword, Konrad Dettner, the president of the German Society for General and Applied Microbiology, hopes that “this promising and comprehensive book will truly inspire this fascinating area of interdisciplinary research…” I take it to mean, that in the future, American researchers will also be included.
