OWLIM is a family of semantic repository components that comprise a native RDF store, a reasoner and a query answering engine. The reasoner is based on R-entailment defined by ter Horst, where inference rules are applied directly to RDF triples. Each rule is made up of a number of premises and conclusions, each of which is an RDF triple pattern with variables allowed at any position. This paper describes an implementation of the OWL 2 RL and OWL 2 QL profiles using this scheme, what modifications were necessary to the rule-engine and what features of the profiles could not be implemented or were modified to make implementing them practical.
