The use of low molecular weight heparins for the prevention of clotting in extracorporeal circulation during hemodialysis has been reported in adults. In seven children (aged 7 to 18 years) with end stage renal failure an initial bolus of the low molecular weight heparin enoxaparin (dosage: 24 to 36 mg/m2) provided simple and proper anticoagulation with no hemorrhage during at least four hours. The tolerance was excellent.
