A total of 43 malignant and premalignant tumours of the skin was treated by application of 5% of 5-fluoro-uracil cream covered by polythene, for a period of six weeks. Biopsies were taken of all lesions before and after treatment. Seven out of 22 cases of basal-cell carcinoma, seven out of ten areas of Bowen's disease and five out of ten solar keratoses responded satisfactorily to the treatment. Three patients could not complete therapy, because of severe local reactions from the cream. There was no evidence of systemic toxic effects in the study.
