Abstract

Purpose To study the morphologic and immunophenotypic characteristics and differential diagnosis of different kinds of small B-cell lymphomas. Methods Morphologic studies and immunohistochemical analyses of CD5, CD10, CD23 and cyclinD1 were performed on paraffin sections, including 15 cases of SLL, 3 cases of LPL, 36 cases of FL, 25 cases of MCL, 7 cases of MZL and 30 cases of MALT-MZL. Results There were different composed cells and distinct histological architectures in different kinds of small B-cell lymphomas in different kinds of small B-cell lymphomas. In immunohistochemistry, SLL expressed CD5 (80%) and CD23 (82%), FL expressed CD10 (87%), MCL expressed cyclinD1 (84%) and CD5 (80%), while MZL/MALT-MZL and LPC did not expressed CD5, CD10, CD23 and cyclinD1. Conclusions Different kinds of small B-cell lymphomas are different entities which have morphologic and immunophenotypic characteristics respectively. In routine work, morphologic syudies and immunohistochemical analyses of CD5, CD10, CD23 and cyclinD1 are helpful to make correct diagnosis and differential diagnosis.
