SUMMARY The minimum alveolar anesthetic concentration for halothane in oxygen which just prevented gross purposeful movement to a tail clamp stimulus averaged 0.91 ± 0.03 ( sem ) volumes % in 12 pigs ( Sus scrofa ). This value compares favorably with halothane minimum alveolar values reported for other nonhuman mammalian species.
