Abstract

We studied transitions of rheological mechanics and their application in rheology of lithosphere. The formulas of friction for three types of fault under Anderson faults systems was gained based on Byerlee law; the rule and parameters of brittle fracture of typical rocks in lithosphere has been gained by comparing and analyzing many results of experiments; these results were applied to lithosphere of Huabei and the strengths of Eerduosi area and Shanxi rift has been attained; The results show that previous studies had higher deviation of strength; the lithosphere possesses stratified character of mechanics, but because depth of layers are not same in different sites, these layers and mechanics action will become more complex. Finally we discussed influence of water, stain rate and polyphase rocks on strength.
