The water quality model is an efficient tool for water pollution control and water quality planning.This article presents the classification and development of the surface water quality model,and introduces the main surface water quality models and softwares: Streeter Phelps model,QUASAR model,QUAL model,WASP model and MIKE model.It also describes the study and application for the surface water quality model,and prospects the developing trend of the model.
