Abstract

The formation patterns of below-ground biomass was analyzed in Potentilla fruticosa dominated shrub. The results showed that the below-ground biomass of Potentilla fruticosa shrub obeyed the pattern of V type and had obvious vertical distributive characteristics. The biomass of dead and living root showed obvious seasonal changing laws. The turnover value of below-ground was 35.72% and the below-ground net production was 1 206.4 g/m~2. The proportion of below-ground biomass and above-ground biomass was higher at the beginning and ending growing season as well as with total biomass. The negative correlation was showed between below-ground biomass and average air temperature or precipitation monthly.
