Abstract

Soil-rock-mixture is a typical porous medium, and its permeability is closely related to the content of gravel.By means of our own constant head permeameter,we have measured the permeability coefficients of soil-rock-mixtures with different gravel content, and the results show that there exists an index relationship between them.Based on the power averaging method,an empirical formula for the calculation of the composite permeability coefficients of soil-rock-mixture was proposed, and the formula was verified with the experimental results, thus offering a concise and useful computational tool for the theoretical calculation of soil and rock-mixture permeability coefficients.
