Two New Species of the Genus Neoperla Needham (Plecoptera: Perlidae: Perlinae) from Guizhou, China

Abstract

Two new species Neoperla bituberculata and Neoperla flexiscrotata of the genus Neoperla Needham from Guizhou province, China is described and illustrated in this paper. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Insect Collection of Yangzhou University (YU). 1. Neoperla bituberculata , sp. nov. (Figs. 1~3) This species is allied to Neoperla infuscata Wu, but differs from the latter in the shape of the chitinized area raised of the 7th tergite and the armature disposal of the everted penis sac obviously, especially the everted penis sac with numerous long golden brown spinules in the new species. Type material: Holotype♂, Sanchahe, Maolan National Nature Reserve, Libo county, Guizhou, 8-VII-1994, Du Yuzhou. Paratypes 1♂、1♀, the same data as the holotype. Etymology: The name refers to the shape of the 7th tergite. 2. Neoperla flexiscrotat , sp. nov. (Figs. 4~8) This species is allied to Neoperla cavalerie (Navas), but differs from the latter in the shape and the armature disposal of the everted penis sac obviously. Type material: Holotype♂, Xiaoqikong, Libo county, Guizhou, 12-VII-1994, Du Yuzhou. Paratypes 9♂♂、11♀♀, the same data as the holotype;1♂、2♀♀, Daqikong, Libo county, Guizhou, 6-VII-1994, Du Yuzhou; 2♂♂, Daba, Sinan county, Guizhou, 24-VII-1994, Du Yuzhou; 3♂♂、3♀♀,the outskirts of Fengang city, Guizhou, 25-VII-1994, Du Yuzhou; 2♂♂、2♀♀, Bamao, Luodian county, Guizhou, 16-IX-1994, Chen Xiangsheng, Zhang Yazhou. Etymology: The name refers to the shape of the everted penis sac.
