Abstract

1. The effect of thyroxin and of growth hormone on liver polyploidy has been investigated in the dwarf mouse and in the hypophysectomized rat.2. Either hormone, acting alone, stimulated polyploidization in these experimental animals; the combination of both hormones synergized to produce an hepatic cell picture dominated by higher polyploid classes.
