Abstract

Much of the work to be described in this review was inspired by the requirement to produce better alloys for high-temperature service. The particular application largely in mind was the rotor blading of gas-turbine engines, and improvement was desired in the direction of ability to withstand higher stresses at higher temperatures, thus leading, in principle, to greater thrust and efficiency.
