Abstract

Mycoplasma bovis is the pathogen that causes pneumonia, arthritis and mastitis in cattle. Two Mycoplasma isolates (designated as Hubei-1 and Hubei-2) were isolated from two lung tissue samples of affected calf by selected culture medium. The two Mycoplasma isolates were identified by the biochemistry test, specific PCR test and sequence analysis of the 16S rRNA gene which is 99.3 % identity with standard strain of PG45. Furthermore, 13 serum samples from affected calf were detected by ELISA coated with Mycoplasma culture of the isolates, the OD490nnm value of 11 serum samples were 2 times higher than that of negative serum. These results indicated that the Mycoplasma bovis exists in some areas of China.
