Abstract

A temporary seismic station array, consisting of 88 analogue and digital recorders with three components, was arranged in a 30km×40km region for receiving the PmP and SmS waves reflected from the Moho at the critical distances generated by 6 shots from different azimuths. The travel-time residuals are used for the reconstruction of the P and S velocity structures and Vp/Vs distribution under the seismic array from the depth off km until the depth of 9 km.The results reveal that the velocity structures of the upper and middle crust in this region are laterally heterogeneous. The Lulong fault in NNE strike direction extends downwards at least to the depth of 8 km with northwestward inclination. The strip-shaped low-velocity distribution in EW direction exists in the upper and middle crust of this region. These two tectonic features play a controlling role in the seismicity of this area.
