Recovery of walking function in stroke patients

Abstract

Objective:The rehabilitation function on walking recovery in stroke patients were studied. Method: The methods of Bobath and Brunnstrom,Chinese massage and functional electrical stimulation were used. Acute stroke patients were studied prospectively and contrasted with clinic control group. After acute phase of stroke ,the patients were investigated clinically. Result: The rate of recovery of independent walking of the acute stroke patents in rehabilitation group 1 was 72.00%,and in contrast group was 14.71%. There was a signifincant difference between the two groups ( P 0.001). There were 77.78% of the patients at the early stage recovered(3months). Conclusion:The ability of walking in acute stroke patients were obviously improved, and the degree of the disability of them was decreased by the early rehabilitation. The patient with 4th degree of Brunnstrom criteria,in the hemiplegia may obtain improvement on walking function by comprehensive rehabilitation.
