Analysis on the Characteristics and Tendency of Grain Production’s Spatial Distribution in China

Abstract

The analysis of this paper is based on the output data of 31 provinces’grain and three main crops in China;the author uses Statistical analysis,GIS method,and spatial autocorrelation analysis to study the characteristics of grain production’s spatial distribution in China from 1978 to 2010.The result of this analysis shows that the major producing areas of grain are moving to the northeast and central regions of China;Southern China maintains the position of the main producing areas of rice and the scale of rice production is expanding in northeast China;the major producing areas of wheat are moving to the northern and central regions of China;the major producing areas of corn are moving to the northeast and central regions of China;The center of gravity of grain,rice and corn have moved northeastward about 251.20km,286.45km and 106.14km,but the distance of the movement of the center of gravity of wheat is not significant and short;China’s grain and main crops have significant spatial correlations,and the degrees of spatial concentration of China’s grain,wheat and corn are increasing,but the degree of spatial concentration of China’s rice is decreasing.
