Abstract

Macrolactin A, 24-membered macrolide, was isolated from the culture broth of Actinomadura sp. as a neuronal cell protecting substance. In the cell assay, this compound inhibited glutamate toxicity in N18-RE-105 cells with an EC50 value of 0.5 μg/ml.
