Taking switches as the subject investigated,a down-stream algorithm of reliability evaluation for complex medium-voltage distribution networks is proposed. In this algorithm, according to the raw data the father-child relations between switch-pair and acting components, which is expressed as incidence matrix(IM),as well as that between node and switch-pair are formed;taking the acting component group as the object, the reliability is analyzed, thus the complex fault search can be avoided;according to the IM between switch-pairs the fault type of the node can be quickly determined, thus the reliability indices for system, feeders and nodes are formed. The simulation results of RBTS-bus6 system and actual medium-voltage distribution system show that the proposed algorithm is correct, efficient and practicable.
