Application of Chaos Theory in Cryptography

Abstract

Cryptography is of crucial importance for information security. The chaotic system has opened up a new way for cryptography technique research because it is sensitive to initial parameters and the chaotic sequence produced by chaos has the nature of non-periodicity and pseudo-randomcity. In the paper, essential points of modern cryptography and chaos theory are introduced and the possibility of applying chaos theory to cryptography is analyzed. The underlying principles of chaos-based cryptography and the security of key sequence are illustrated, and besides, the existing problems of chaos-based cryptography in practical applications are outlined.
