Abstract

A series of experiments were carried out to explore the relationship between crushing and compactness of coal waste. The results show that the compactness of coal waste is much different from that of soil. The soft rock , occupying a large proportion in the coal waste, will be crushed and accompanied by an obvious change in compactness and in proportion of different particle sizes in the compressive process. The compacting process of coal waste may be divided into two stages: crushing compacting and consolidation compacting. The authors hold that the crushing compacting is a pre compressing process, which is quite important for overcoming the shortcomings caused by the unfavorable proportion of different particle sizes and hence improving the compactness of coal waste.
