The use of large interrupted sutures in facial skin is not justified and should be condemned. Routine use of silk and catgut sutures in facial wounds is contraindicated. The authors present a modification of Halsted's subcuticular suturing technic employed at the Straith Clinic and describe a method of acquiring skill in its performance before attempting the closure of facial wounds. They believe this technic is greatly superior to any other method of closure of facial wounds.
