Stretchable, conductive, and stable poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT)-modified textiles are developed through a novel in situ polymerization process. A stretchable supercapacitor using the PEDOT-coated fabric as the stretchable electrode is fabricated with areal and volumetric capacitances of 0.64 F cm−2 and 5.12 F cm−3, respectively. Its capacitance remains nearly unchanged when strained up to 100% or even after 50 000 charge/discharge cycles.
