THREE patients under our care with giantism and a striking similarity of appearance (pallor, smooth skin and youthful mien in addition to large limbs, hands and feet) validate the suggestion of Goldman, Cahill and Thorn1 that this is a syndrome of fractional hypopituitarism. The syndrome, as described in the case reported by Goldman et al., consisted of hypogonadism, hypothyroidism and hypoadrenocorticism in addition to giantism stemming from normal or increased quantities or effects of growth hormone.
