Abstract

The use of in situ gamma spectrometry to monitor environmental contamination by artificial radionuclides has been examined. In particular, all sources of random and systematic uncertainty, such as the activity distribution in soil and the influence of soil parameters, were investigated in order to estimate the accuracy of the method. Variations of radionuclide depositions in selected areas and on different surfaces were measured.
