Progestational Agents in the Treatment of Carcinoma of the Endometrium

Abstract

THE successful treatment of carcinoma of the uterus is usually accomplished by total hysterectomy, irradiation or a combination of both procedures.1 Data from 27 clinics, in 8366 cases, are surveyed in the Tenth Annual Report on the Results of Treatment in Carcinoma of the Uterus.2 The over-all five-year cure rate was 54.3 per cent. The five-year cure rate was 60 per cent when the tumor was confined to the uterus (Stage I, Group 1) but only 19.6 per cent for those in whom the growth had spread outside the uterus (Stage II).
