Cartilaginous Transformation of the Aortic Valve

Abstract

A young man developed cartilaginous transformation of the aortic valve following an acute febrile illness, and the defect terminated in severe aortic valve insufficiency. The clinical and pathologic aspects of this presentation are discussed, along with proposed mechanisms of pathogenesis.
