Abstract

The synthesis of the novel chromiumpentacarbonyl complex [2,6-(MeOCH 2 ) 2 C 6 H 3 ](Cl) SnCr(CO) 5 ( 1 ) is reported. Compound 1 was used for the synthesis of novel chromiumpentacarbonyl coordinated organotin(II) cations [{2,6-(MeOCH 2 ) 2 C 6 H 3 }SnCr(CO) 5 ] + X − (X = OTf or CB 11 H 12 ). The strongly Lewis acidic tin(II) center of the latter organotin(II) cations coordinates H 2 O or THF molecules yielding the corresponding organotin(II) cations [{2,6-(MeOCH 2 ) 2 C 6 H 3 }(H 2 O)SnCr(CO) 5 ] + [OTf] − ( 2 ) and [{2,6-(MeOCH 2 ) 2 C 6 H 3 }(H 2 O)SnCr(CO) 5 ] + [CB 11 H 12 ] − ( 3 ). Compounds 1 − 3 were characterized by means of elemental analyses, 1 H, 13 C, 119 Sn NMR spectroscopies, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.
