Increased Membrane Type 1 Matrix Metalloproteinase Expression from Adenoma to Colon Cancer

Abstract

These data suggest that membrane type 1 matrix metalloproteinase expression increases with progression from normal mucosa to invasive adenocarcinoma; however, it cannot be used as a prognostic indicator on which adjuvant therapy is based in node-negative colon cancer because of its failure to predict recurrence in this patient group.
