Synthesis and Structure of the Octanuclear Manganese(II) Cage [(<i>η</i>-Cp)Mn{2-NH(4,6-Me₂pm)}·Mn{2-N(4,6-Me₂Pm)}]₄ (Cp = C₅H₅, pm = Pyrimidine)

Abstract

The 1:1 reaction of 2-NH 2 (4,6-Me 2 pm) with Cp 2 Mn in thf gives the novel heteroleptic imido/amido Mn(II) cage [(η-Cp)Mn{2-NH(4,6-Me 2 pm)}·Mn{2-N(4,6-Me 2 pm)}] 4 ( 1 ), composed of a central Mn(II) imido [Mn 4 {2-N(4,6-Me 2 pm)} 4 ] core coordinated at the periphery by four [(η-Cp)Mn{2-NH(4,6-Me 2 pm)}] monomer units.
