Pharmacokinetics of pravastatin in heart-transplant patients taking cyclosporin A*

Abstract

Heart-transplant recipients treated with the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor pravastatin generally show higher plasma concentrations of this drug than control subjects. However, our data suggest that the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor pravastatin can be used effectively in these patients receiving the immunosuppressive cyclosporin A. The pharmacokinetic data obtained indicate that there is no significant cumulation of the drug following multiple dosages in spite of increased drug concentrations after a single oral dosage.
