Three new diarylheptanoids were isolated as inhibitors of prostaglandin biosynthesis from the methanol extract of Alpinia offioinarum Hance. Their structures were elucidated to be 7-(4 "-hydroxy-3"-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-3, 5-heptadione (I), 5-methoxy-7-(4 "-hydroxy-3"-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-3-heptanone (IV), and 5-hydroxy-7-(4"-hydroxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-3-heptanone (VI) by the interpretation of spectral data.
