Stypandrol, a Toxic Binaphthalenetetrol Isolated from <i>Stypandra imbricata</i>

Abstract

The compound responsible for the toxicity of the plant Stypandra imbricata has been isolated and shown to be 7,7'-diacetyl-6,6'- dimethyl-2,2'-binaphthalene-1,1',8,8'-tetrol (5) by spectroscopic and single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods.
