Dual Pathways for TiO₂ Sensitization by Na₂[Fe(bpy)(CN)₄]

Abstract

The first example of a compound designed to sensitize semiconductors to visible light by electron transfer from both intervalent and excited states is Na2[Fe(bpy)(CN)4], where bpy is 2,2‘-bipyridine. The charge-transfer pathways are schematically depicted below. Photoelectrochemical and spectroscopic characterization are contrasted with that of Fe(CN)64-.
