The segregation obtained for several characters in haploid tobacco plants developed from pollen grains of the F1 hybrids showed a good fit to the expected ratios. This indicates that no competition could be seen among pollen grains in the formation of haploid plants by anther culture. Anther culture technique is applicable to gene analysis.
