Abstract

The discussion about Green Chemistry and application of the microwave irradiation, particularly in chemical laboratories, will be shown in this manuscript as a way to review the work involving the microwave extraction of natural products and making a parallel situation with principles of Green Chemistry. The presence of microwave devices in laboratories is now common. From various scientific publications it was found that the microwave-assisted extraction has been gaining attention due to obtained high yields and short extraction times, concomitantly reducing waste, promoting efficiency in the extraction. Microwave appears as a new look for the existing extraction methodologies with environmental sustainability.
