Abstract This article examines the role of self-aspects, perceived social support, and gender on psychological help-seeking attitudes of Turkish university students. Women scored higher on relational and individual self-aspects, as well as perceived family support. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis shows that positive help-seeking attitudes are facilitated by individual self, relational self, perceived support from parents, and perceived support from friends. Women had more positive attitudes toward seeking psychological help than men. Findings are discussed considering the Turkish cultural context.
