Abstract

Data have been presented on rate of appearance and disappearance of erythropoietine. Plasma level of erythropoietine rises promptly in response to hypoxia but on continued exposure declines. In rats with radiation-induced hypoplasia, this fall in erythropoietine titer was modified. Accordingly, it is suggested that the marrow utilizes erythropoietine and the clinical implications are discussed.
