Abstract

The value of arthroscopy in the diagnosis and treatment of knee disorders has been well established. Little has been written in the American literature regarding the value of arthroscopy of the ankle joint. Based on a review of the literature and a review of our 56 cases a systematic approach to ankle arthroscopy is given. Basic arthroscopic anatomy is given and the technique of ankle arthroscopy is outlined and demonstrated in detail. The indications, contraindications, and complications are reviewed.
