Role of Serum Albumin in Lipemia Clearing Reaction

Abstract

Data are presented to show that purified serum albumin enhances the lipemia clearing reaction, probably by binding the fatty acids produced which, if not removed, are capable of inhibiting the reaction. Evidence that albumin is not the only cofactor in the clearing reaction is presented.
