Experiments directed towards the synthesis of anthracyclinones. I. Synthesis of 2-formylmethoxyanthraquinones

Abstract

For substituted anthraquinones methods are reported which allow the oxidation of a ß-methyl to a formyl group when the a- or both the ortho positions contain protected hydroxyls.
