Abstract

T he res ul ts of m easurements of the corrosion of galvan ized steel and of bare steel and zinc as reference materials after exposure to different soil co ndi tions for a maximum of 13 years arc reported. The magnitude and progress of co rrosion of galvanized steel as determ ined by weight loss and pitting is interpreted in terms of the environmental conditions to which the specimens were exposed. From analysis of data on the corrosion of galvanized specimens havin g different weights of coating, minimum coating requi rements for different en drollmental conditions are suggested . :'I This is the weight of coating on one side or t he pipe.
