Abstract

The concept antigenic structure, applied to a virus, embraces the number of distinct and separable constituent antigens; their serological manifestations; their contribution to the virus mass; their localization in the virus particle; their biochemical nature; their functional significance; their cross-reactions with analogous antigens of other viruses; and the history of their development and variation.
