Graphene oxide (GO) has received considerable interest in many researches due to its special structure and characteristics. In this investigation, GO was employed to fabricate alloy composite coating by electrodeposition technique. Ni-W-GO composite coatings were obtained successfully on C45 steel from a Ni-W plating electrolyte with suspended GO. These GO sheets were incorporated into the Ni-W alloy matrix uniformly and corresponding coatings were investigated for their structure, morphology, electrochemical and mechanical behavior and compared with that of Ni-W alloy deposit. From the results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) small amount of GO sheets made Ni-W deposit compact and uniform. Additionally, an improvement in corrosion and friction resistance was confirmed by electrochemical and friction coefficient measurements.
